As usual, Katherine Center delivers an uplifting and sweet story in her latest release What You Wish For. Set in Galveston, Texas, the story follows school librarian Sam as she faces significant changes in her workplace, the most significant involving the reappearance of an old, massive crush. However, love worthy Duncan seems different than Sam last saw him. Together, they learn how to open their hearts to trust and love. The school changes seem not to be the only change in this story. Center alters her balance in character growth in this story, and it makes the development a little off kilter. The focus seems to rest on Duncan, and Sam takes a backseat even though she experiences growth too. That said, it still makes a sweet story and I still recommend it. Katherine Center books always get bumped to the front of my TBR pile when I get them.

Valentine’s Day passed a week ago, but I made sure I stretched my celebration, still receiving Valentines in the mail when I returned home a couple days ago. Valentine’s Day even occurred on a weekend this year. That meant I had a whole week leading into it and a whole weekend to celebrate, spent with my honey.

I captured a few of the Valentine themed highlights during the last couple weeks:

I made myself a sweet treat sprinkled with hearts.

I eagerly awaited the weekend when my boyfriend would visit me.

I started a countdown on my Facebook page and asked a Valentine themed poll question every day.

I sent some Little Mermaid and Frozen Valentines to my friends.

The countdown was reaching its end as I showed off my red nails and lips.

I made semi matching coffee mugs for me and my boyfriend.

Happy to have my honey in town, I got ready for our dinner & a movie date the night after Valentine's. I Notebooked him!

My new job in my new city started this week, and I returned home for my last couple days at my old job to find more Valentines in the mail!

I spread out my Valentine’s Day celebration, and I sure enjoyed it. My favorite holiday served as the perfect season to remind my friends that I love them. It also reminded me of all the small tokens and signs of love constantly around us. Simple kiddy Valentines made people smile, love notes warmed the soul, and even the snow melted leaving heart shapes. Love abounded!

  • Starlit Darkness
As it felt like I continued to fall deeper into darkness, I reminded myself to keep dreaming positively. My stars matched my pajamas to encourage my sleeping dreams as well.  The following weekend I ventured out with my friends to attend a Taking Back Sunday and The Used concert. Surrounding […]

  • Falling
These plain manicures go back to the fall. The season marked a time of change and a new look at my world. Perhaps the perspective in what I held in my hands stole some of the focus and expression I would normally have for my nail art.  I went from a bold […]

  • Plain Sparkles
After the Top Shelf plain manicure, I had another plain one with some sparkles added. I just didn’t feel spirited enough to enjoy my me time. I still made myself go through the motions though. I might not have been applying makeup regularly, but I kept my nails polished. The little touches kept me from […]
