My heart’s in overdrive

Spinning my head around

A constant alarming reminder

That to my past I’m bound

As if I could forget

I’m still alive

The real me’s still inside

For whom I continue to strive

I can’t seem to tell

Who is the enemy

Is it Satan or the drugs

Or is it simply me

This cloud makes it hard

Day and night are restless

To a soul in fog

Clinging emotional excess
